The up side to being sick...

We're a little over a week into August now, and so far have yet to spend much time outside. It's been pretty warm, so the heat has been a factor in keeping us indoors, but the biggest reason behind our hiding out has been the infamous (and brutal!) summer cold. We've struggled through sleepless nights, runny noses, ear infections, eye goop, coughs, and just feeling yucky in general... and we've ALL struggled through it. But there is an up side to being sick, and that is lots of snuggles! Micah and Caleb have always been cuddly kids, but when they're not feeling good they get even more cuddly... if that's even possible. :) Micah especially, as he's been more interested in running around like crazy most days. We've struggled through a lot these past few weeks, but have cherished the time to snuggle with our boys. Everyone always says to enjoy these days because they grow up so fast, and we have been and are... even with as exhausted and exasperated as we've been. And apparently the snuggles aren't limited to mom and dad when you're not feeling good. Sometimes you just need some lovin' from your brother. :)

Are these two going to be trouble together someday or what? :)

It's been a rough couple of weeks, but I think the worst is behind us. I'm just thankful to be able to be home during the day to take care of my little... in size only... blessings. And as crazy as it might sound... maybe this is the sleep deprivation talking... I look forward to many more sleepless nights, runny noses, ear infections, eye goop, coughs, and just feeling yucky in general because they are opportunities to love and care for my kids in a way that is different from their healthy days.

Psalm 127:3 says, "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him." My prayer is that we never forget that... no matter what we might be going through.
